More on CelluErase

How does it work?

We get cellulite when the upper layers of skin tether to the lower levels of our bodies either side of our fatty layers, causing a tenting effect.

The dimpled areas are where the skin is tethering, and CelluErase is used to release this, which in turn, smooths out the skin. Due to the way in which it works, the technique used in CelluErase treatments can also be used to release scar tissue after cesarean sections.

How is it carried out?

Firstly we will ask you to fill in a medical form which you can find on our how to book page.

We will then organise the prescription for the lidocaine we will we order on your behalf.

On the day, we will take pictures and numb the area to be treated. We will go through all the paperwork to ensure you know exactly what to expect and to ensure that it is the correct procedure for you.

We will then inject the area with lidocaine and  use a tool which has a small blade on the end of gently break down the tethers causing the appearance of cellulite.

How quick does it work?

You will see a difference straight away but it can take a couple of weeks for the full effect to be noticed.

How long does it last?

CelluErase is permanent. Once the tethers have been broken, they cannot come back.

However, if you put on weight, new tethers in other areas may appear in other areas that would not have been apparent previously due to there not being excess fat underneath.

Are there side effects or risks?

Bruising, swelling and tenderness are common for a few days after treatment and you can take non-anti inflammatories to help with with this. You may also experience a little bleeding and redness and there is a small risk to damage being caused to the skin or surrounding areas.

You may experience a change in sensation to the area including numbness or tingling and although the blade is very small, there is a small risk of a tiny scar. If you suffer from hypertrophic or keloid scarring, please talk to your practitioner.

Does it hurt?

We will always fully numb the area before carrying out any treatment. We do inject local anaesthetic after numbing the skin and prior to treatment and this may be where you feel a slight stinging sensation.

he procedure should be very comfortable, but if at any point we need to, we can top up the local anaesthetic if necessary.

Is it safe for me to have?

CelluErase is a safe treatment, however there are certain groups of people who should not have this treatment:

  • Those with soft cellulite
  • Those with bleeding disorders
  • Breastfeeding or Pregnant ladies
  • Those with infections at the site of treatment
  • Those allergic to local anaesthetic
